WildCowboyNov 27, 01:17 PMmeh - does this matter? Isn't 17" is getting to be a bit skimpy by any consumer standards.
I don't think so. Many people (myself included) who use notebooks as their primary computers without an external monitor. 17" widescreen is a great size.
Entry-level mini buyers don't want to spend more on their monitor than they do on their computer.

danielwsmitheeNov 27, 02:51 PMNow I'm starting to wonder if Apple will drop the 20" and replace it with a 17" LCD. I know that seems odd, but that would increase the gap between the 20" and 23" ACDs. There's a 7" gap between the 23" and 30" and if they introduced a 17" to replace the 20" that would make a 6" gap between the low end and the middle one. That way there will be much more of a difference between the ACDs.
Just a thought. :)
No I think 20" is still the sweat-spot.

ChundlesAug 7, 05:18 AMAussie waiters must earn a fortune. My sister in law worked as a waitress in the USA and earned over US$1000 per weekend in wages and tips. So what's it like in Oz?
We don't get tips. The comparison was between minimum wage in Alberta, Canada and regular award wages in NSW (same as minimum wage).
NSW minimum wage for class 3 waiter at age 23: $17ph mon-fri, $20ph sat, $24ph sun.
Alberta minimum wage ~5.90ph regardless of day, level and age.
Mind you this was back in both wages have gone up since.
I earnt over $5000 in about 3 months working 5 nights a week for a max of about 5 hours per shift.

Lord BlackadderMar 21, 05:13 PMIf you inflict swift and high casualties on the opposition, the rest might be detered from dragging out a lengthy insurgency where even more people suffer (including lots and lots of bystanders)
The idea is to avoid casualties as much as possible by rapidly degrading Gaddafi's ability to wage war. The focus is on inflicting material damage to the Gaddafi-loyalist military, and to disrupt their operations against rebel-held cities - not killing Gaddafi loyalists.

WinniApr 27, 06:23 AMHow long until Apple releases a product called "Amazon", then? Named after the river, of course.
Interesting. I've always associated the name with the legendary tribe of female warriors.

2011 Subaru Legacy. Our first Subaru. So impressed we're selling the other cars and buying a 2011 Outback for my wife!

It's not a fancy looking car, in fact it looks easily can be mistaken for any other boring sedan from GM/Ford/Toyota/Honda/Nissan.
Im jealous, im regretting not getting a Subaru Legacy. I got a 2010 Ford Fusion, should have got the legacy for the good looks and the AWD.

For me, TextEdit and Preview crash on launch. I suspected Dropbox 1.1.13 but killing Dropbox didn't 'cure' the crashes.
Not getting any of these at all.

NameciFeb 27, 07:04 PMnow not to start a ppc vs intel flame war. but if it serves his purposes just fine why would he switch? for example my MDD works amazingly well and if it had a better graphics card it would be my main machine; why? because when you run software that is optimized for ppc (and most pro apps still are) they are blazing fast. as far as i can recall i could run fcp at a speed that rivaled my 13 mbp (before its gfx card died). anyway don't take this personally :P just pointing out a fact.
(if this starts a flame war i will seriously smack myself XD :p)
No offense taken anyway... I am more mature, I am not into Intel Mac stuff yet. Still find the challenge to keep this old machines working. And they worked fine with minimum upkeep.
If ever apple will decide to switch to another processor I might find the interest to take on Intel Macs and collect... :D
And it is not the only PPC machine that I have...

glennsanAug 24, 06:38 PMMaybe dual optical drives like the Mac pro. This is getting standard on Macs obviously.
:p
The only Mac that currently has the dual optical drive is the Mac Pro. I would not think that the iMac and Mini would get a dual as well. But I will admit that stranger things have happened.

MultimediaSep 1, 01:04 PMMost of the posts in this thread are about the 23" screen. Yes, I think it will happen to allow the imac to play 1080i/1080p HD.
But, how about the processors? Apple needs to have a Core 2 (Conroe not Merom) inside the imac. The imac is not a conventionally size desktop (not as much room inside as a tower) but Apple can not continue to use a laptop processor in the imac. If they do, then how will the Conroe be used in Apple's line up? In a Mac tower? I don't think so. Surely, a 23" iMac could house the Conroe suitably?
So I would say that the 23" iMac would kill 2 birds - Conroe and HD for the home user. :)Absolutely Quad Girl. You are right on the money. Plus DUAL DVI support so you can span to a 30" display.

GiaguaraApr 15, 11:05 AMi like the part where he thot that just cuz he went/lives/lived in japan he's smarter than other people.... o and then the crack about americans not knowing what a primary school was! hey, i went to Primary school! and i live in the US!! LOL ;)
I was wondering why didn't add also that he can't be a luser as he has a Japanese girl friend. ... you know, any American / just any Western guy is always seen as Very Hot in Asia, when there are girls who can see it as an opportunity to get abroad and avoid marrying a Japanese guy .. at least the guys I know who've been [working] in Japan tell that there are a lot of lus.. amh, I mean of course three are not ..
ten-oak-druidApr 26, 01:19 PMThe one argument Amazon can make is that they used "appstore" instead of "app store".
"Appstore" was a trademark held by a computer store that was later abandoned. When you search for "app store" in the TESS you find both but Apple's trademark is specifically "app store" with two words.
Not that I am an expert on the law of trademarks. Let them fight it out. What do I care. I'm just pointing out that the one word version of the trademark may not fall under Apple's two word trademark.
LennholmMay 2, 07:04 PMMicrosoft have managed to get one thing right in Windows. A specific tool (Add/Remove Programs) to delete a program. That's something that I genuinely feel is lacking in OS X and this idea of clicking and holding in LaunchPad makes sense. It's imple enough: most users who own an iPhone will have no trouble in adopting this method. And what's more, it makes it instantly accessible to anyone who uses a mac. In addition, it goes a step further than Microsoft. It avoids making more novice users from having to delve in to a complex window of settings. A step in the right direction? I think so!
So personally, I think this is a very simple yet very effective change to make to OS X and should be a welcome sign of the things to come in Lion!
That's probably the most unreliable function in Windows. It's an afterthought that was pieced together when they realised they can't count on sw developers to provide an uninstall app for their sw
NymNov 30, 10:58 AMNo way, M$ doesn't like Apple for what it is, for their history, if Apple would sink there would always be competition, and monopoly... 90% of the world's computers running Windoze? what's that? :D
pyramid6Apr 26, 01:39 PMApple doesn't have the trademark yet.
It's still in the opposition phase. ;)
There you go. They'll sort it out in court.
WillisAug 6, 09:08 PMHaha, I love the digs at Vista. Vista's been getting so much bad press recently this is fantastic. They should simply have this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QdGt3ix2CQ) video on repeat on screens throughout the event!!
hahah i was just watching that. but it was the shorter version.
